Spring Photo Safari

Grasshopper Warbler, Cley, May 2022

Late April and the first half of May are a special time on the North Norfolk coast for photographing both breeding resident species and newly arrived migrant birds and is a great time for capturing beautiful images of hares among flowers.

We will start by exploring the marshes at Cley as the sun rises. Potential photographic targets may include Garganey, Spoonbill, Avocet, various other wader species, Bearded Tit, Cetti’s and Grasshopper Warblers and Marsh Harrier. We will later move up on to a nearby heath to photograph birds among the flowering gorse that may include Dartford Warbler, Wood Lark, Stonechat and there is always the outside chance of a roosting Nightjar.

We will then visit some hare hotspots including flower filled meadows before we break for lunch in a local cafe.

The afternoon will be spent at various sites along the coast where there may be opportunities to photograph species such as Spoonbill and Marsh Harrier.
