Hide Hire
Located three miles from Fakenham my woodland hide offers a year round opportunity to capture varied images of both woodland birds and on occasions interesting mammals. However the star attraction are Sparrowhawks. In 2023 up to3 individuals visited, although the appearance of a Sparrowhawk cannot be guaranteed. Our hides have attracted the following species:
Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Red Kite, Goshawk (once on ground but fly through irregularly), Pheasant, Jay, Fieldfare, Mistle Thrush, Blackbird, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Marsh Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Siskin, Redpoll, Mealy Redpoll, Bullfinch, Brambling, Wren and Grey Wagtail, Crossbill, Stock Dove. Mammals have included Stoat, Brown Hare, Muntjac and Roe Deer, Common Shrew, Bank Vole and Wood Mouse. Species and numbers are dependent on the season.
The hide is fitted with Stopsol one way glass which has no visible effect on image quality but which has the bonus of making you completely invisible and so lens movement is not an issue for more nervous visitors.
For the best experience, maximum number of birds and variety a visit between early January to early April is best. The Sparrowhawks are fed from 1st November to 30th April. After this date there are possibilities to photograph Sparrowhawks bathing but this does not happen every day.
Please note I offer this hide as a general woodland bird hide from which you may have the opportunity to photograph visiting Sparrowhawks. They are not guaranteed and I can offer no refunds if a Sparrowhawk does not visit during your rental period.
Cost
Max of 2 people, £140 per day for hire of hide which seats two photographers comfortably. This cost is for the hide not per photographer, so if two of you book together then its £70 each.
From 1 June 2024 £150 per day.
Ways to pay
We accept cheques made payable to David Tipling Photography Ltd or payment via bank transfer or cash on the day.
